Nanochemistry. A Chemical Approach to Nanomaterials

Okładka książki : Nanochemistry. A Chemical Approach to Nanomaterials

Geoffrey A. Ozin, André C. Arsenault, Ludovico Cademartiri: Nanochemistry. A Chemical Approach to Nanomaterials. Royal Society of Chemistry 2009 - ISBN 9781847558954

Nanotechnology is touted to begin a new era by bringing us materials that were not available before. This book describes the fascinating chemistry behind nanotechnology in a clear and easy to read style. Aimed at teachers, graduate students and advanced undergraduates it provides an authoritative, rigorous and hype-free guide to this burgeoning field. For those who already have some knowledge of the subject, the book remains invaluable as a reference and source of inspiration for future research or teaching.

Implementing Spectral Methods for Partial Differential Equations

Okładka książki : Implementing Spectral Methods for Partial Differential Equations

David A. KoprivaL: Implementing Spectral Methods for Partial Differential Equations. Algorithms for Scientists and Engineers. Springer 2009. - ISBN 9789048122608

This book offers a systematic and self-contained approach to solve partial differential equations numerically using single and multidomain spectral methods. It contains detailed algorithms in pseudocode for the application of spectral approximations to both one and two dimensional PDEs of mathematical physics describing potentials, transport, and wave propagation. David Kopriva, a well- known researcher in the field with extensive practical experience, shows how only a few fundamental algorithms form the building blocks of any spectral code, even for problems with complex geometries.

Fourier-Mukai and Nahm Transforms in Geometry and Mathematical Physics

Okładka książki : Fourier-Mukai and Nahm Transforms in Geometry and Mathematical Physics

Claudio Bartocci, Ugo Bruzzo,Daniel Hernández Ruipérez: Fourier-Mukai and Nahm Transforms in Geometry and Mathematical Physics. Birkhäuser 2009 - ISBN 978-0817632465

Integral transforms, such as the Laplace and Fourier transforms, have been major tools in mathematics for at least two centuries. In the last three decades the development of a number of novel ideas in algebraic geometry, category theory, gauge theory, and string theory has been closely related to generalizations of integral transforms of a more geometric character. "Fourier–Mukai and Nahm Transforms in Geometry and Mathematical Physics" examines the algebro-geometric approach (Fourier–Mukai functors) as well as the differential-geometric constructions (Nahm). Also included is a considerable amount of material from existing literature which has not been systematically organized into a monograph.

Foundations of Grothendieck Duality for Diagrams of Schemes

Okładka książki : Foundations of Grothendieck Duality for Diagrams of Schemes

Joseph Lipman, Mitsuyasu Hashimoto: Foundations of Grothendieck Duality for Diagrams of Schemes. Springer 2009 - ISBN 9783540854197

The first part is a full exposition of the abstract foundations of Grothendieck duality theory for schemes (twisted inverse image, tor- independent base change,...), in part without noetherian hypotheses, and with some refinements for maps of finite tor-dimension. The ground is prepared by a lengthy treatment of the rich formalism of relations among the derived functors, for unbounded complexes over ringed spaces, of the sheaf functors tenso, direct and inverse image. In the second part, the theory is extended to the context of diagrams of schemes.

Approximate and Renormgroup Symmetries

Okładka książki : Approximate and Renormgroup Symmetries

Nail H. Ibragimov, Vladimir F. Kovalev: Approximate and Renormgroup Symmetries. Springer 2009. -ISBN 9783642002

"Approximate and Renormgroup Symmetries" deals with approximate transformation groups, symmetries of integro- differential equations and renormgroup symmetries. It includes a concise and self-contained introduction to basic concepts and methods of Lie group analysis, and provides an easy-to-follow introduction to the theory of approximate transformation groups and symmetries of integro-differential equations. The book is designed for specialists in nonlinear physics - mathematicians and non-mathematicians - interested in methods of applied group analysis for investigating nonlinear problems in physical science and engineering.

Bioinformatics. Volume I, II

Okładka książki : Bioinformatics. Volume I: Data, Sequence Analysis and Evolution (Methods in Molecular Biology).

Bioinformatics. Volume I: Data, Sequence Analysis and Evolution (Methods in Molecular Biology).ed. Jonathan M. Keith. Humana Press 2008. -ISBN 9781588297075

Bioinformatics: Volume II: Structure, Function and Applications. ed. Jonathan M. Keith. Humana Press 2008. -ISBN 9781603274289

"Data, Sequence Analysis and Evolution" examines a selection of methods involving the generation and organization of data, including sequence data, RNA and protein structures, micro array expression data and functional annotations, methods for discovering the functional components of genomes, whether they be genes, alternative splice sites, non-coding RNAs or regulatory motifs, and several of the most interesting methods in phylogenetics and evolution.

"Structure, Function and Applications" contains methods pertinent to the prediction of protein and RNA structures and the analysis and classification of structures, methods for inferring the function of previously identified genomic elements, chiefly protein- coding genes, medical applications in diagnostics and drug discovery, and 'meta-methods' for developers of bioinformatics algorithms.
