Henley Management College is one of the first independent Management Development Colleges in Europe and was incorporated in 1945. It also has one of the largest Graduate Business Schools in the world and this was established in 1972.
Our present Portfolio covers:

Executive Development Programmes

  • one week
  • four week

  • short residential programmes

Qualification Programmes

  • working with over 6500 managers from 80 countries through our range of Diploma and MBA Programmes

Corporate Programmes

  • tailored programmes for organisations (approx. 1500 + members on 50+ courses)
  • tailored MBA and Diploma programmes for organisations (approx. 800 + students)

Research

  • we have approx. 200 managers from 25 countries working on our Doctoral Programmes
  • PhD and MPhil
  • DBA

    The Doctor of Business Administration Programme focuses on the skills required For Senior Management, management consultancy, management development and education in an international context. Over a period of 3-4 years participants complete a range of activities related to their own needs including a major research study. (Thesis)

The Corporate University and Corporate Business School is a new area of development this year

We have collaborating and partner institutions throughout the world.

The development of our Distance Learning activities at both MBA and Doctoral level has resulted in the Library and Information service reconsidering the way in which we have traditionally supported programmes. Technology now plays a more significant role in enabling us to reach our global customers.

The Distance Learning modules are being developed on CD-Rom and Lotus Notes provides electronic support to our remote learners enabling them to work on joint Projects, take part in electronic tutorials, order course materials, book workshops and submit course work.

Up until August 1996 the CD-Rom databases in the library were stored in CD Towers and we were rapidly requiring more disk drives. It was important that our LAN access was improved. Dos based products were moving to windows, the databases needed to be integrated and the traditional CD-Rom networking system we were using had its limitations. Above all from the users perspective the operation needed to be flexible and move seamlessly from one database to another.

The InfoWare CD/HD product provided the solution.

  • InfoWare CD/HD met our requirements and was definitely the best of the systems we were considering
  • the company was using industry standard equipment – very important in a mixed environment like ours
  • the company was professional – they knew what they were doing
  • the support has been excellent
  • they were willing to listen and work with the client

It is vital when embarking on a project like this that there are good lines of communication between the Library, IT/Computer Department and Supplier.

I have been in the fortunate position to be able to build on this relationship.

A few months ago I did a brief beta test on the IRISWARE. It has great potential and we have placed an order to upgrade to this product. This will enable us to offer remote access to our global classroom.

It is important to recognise that the customer may not necessarily wish to come to your Library in person but will expect to find the information he or she requires on their desk, wherever they are in the world and throughout a 24 hour period.
